About the film
Disavowed is the twenty-second short by Wingless Films, and the fourth to be shot in Dartmoor. Directed by Jim Elton, the film stars Tom Menary as a man on the run from the "scalphunters" across the moors.
The film was shot in one day on Dartmoor. The opening shots were filmed close to Burrator Reservoir, while the climactic scenes were located around a foot bridge close to Princetown—a location recently featured (at the time of filming) in the second series of James May's Man Lab.
For the shot of the wanted man being watched by his pursuer, Tom Menary stood in for both characters, and the two takes were edited together to form a single shot. Additional sound recording was conducted in Scott Building, to compensate for strong winds during the footbridge scenes.
The film's original score was created by Tom Menary, and released to Last.fm along with the film on 27th November, 2011. The digital album features five score cues and two bonus tracks: a complete version of the film's theme, and an extended, album version of the climactic track, "Levelling".
