About the film
Attention is the fourth short production from Wingless Films, and the first of the Wingless Shorts micro-films. It was originally created as an example video for Jim Elton's Contemporary Film Practice course at Plymouth University. A silent film, it reflects on the nature of an audience's attention towards still and moving images, notably by showing an extended shot of a landscape and inserting a figure into the foreground while the audience's attention is directed towards ongoing textual narration.
Tom Menary portrays the figure, who, in the film's final shot, runs towards camera and mouths the line, "Do I have your attention?" before the film cuts off. Scenes were shot in the Jennycliff area of the Plymouth shoreline, near Bovisand Cottage on the route towards Discovery Divers.
The film was initially released under the Eternal Silence title on 14th October, 2010, and retroactively added to the Wingless Films back catalog during the founding on the group on 15th December, 2010. The Vimeo release notably cuts a few seconds from the end of the film.
